Listen.

Highly effective and successful people spend 5 mins listening fo every minute they speak. Effective communication is impossible without listening. You have to fully understand where the other person is coming from and what they are suggesting.

Listening also allows you to see the world through other people’s eyes which is essential for pretty much everybody no matter their profession is.

Understanding others needs and behavior will help you know your target audience and clients better and you know what that means. Bigger profits.

5 ways to boost your mindset for success

  1. Learn lessons from your mistakes. I learned that every loss is a win if you let it be. So if you’ve experienced a failure, don’t beat yourself up. Brush yourself off, analyze what happened, and determine how you can do things differently in the future, and move on.
  2. Set small goals as stepping stones to your success. Take time to set small, frequent goals, and reward yourself in some manner after achieving them. The best way to do this is to write out a big lofty goal, and under that goal, list all the “mini goals” you need to hit in order to make it happen.
  3. Be flexible. Not everything is going to go according to plan, and maintaining a level of emotional fitness is key. You’re not always going to achieve all of your goals on time or even at all… And that’s ok. That’s life.
  4. Get inspired. Take time each day, even if it’s 10 minutes, to expose yourself to something that truly inspires you. Read the blog of someone you admire. Watch a motivational video. Write a thank you note to someone who went out of their way for you.
  5. Engage in positive self-talk. Sometimes we can be our own worst enemies, so it’s important to be conscious of how we talk to ourselves. Encourage yourself. Compliment yourself. Reward yourself. But also make sure to stay realistic and grounded. It’ll help you stay focused on your journey and realistic about what you can achieve and how soon.

What is natural language processing?

Natural Language Processing, usually shortened as NLP, is a branch of artificial intelligence that deals with the interaction between computers and humans using the natural language.

The ultimate objective of NLP is to read, decipher, understand, and make sense of the human languages in a manner that is valuable.

Most NLP techniques rely on machine learning to derive meaning from human languages.

Conversation starters

  1. Remember there’s no such thing as a “perfect line.”
Be the first to say hello. The worst thing they can do is reject you. Chances are, they’ll be happy you introduced yourself.
  2. Use what you already know to your advantage.
If you’re at the same party, chances are you were invited by the same person, so you can ask, “what’s your connection to the host or hostess?”
  3. Don’t ask “How are you?”
  4. Instead, say “Tell me about you.”
  5. Ask, “Catch me on your life since the last time I saw you.”
  6. Ask someone what keeps them busy.
  7. It’s okay to offer your opinion, but give the other person a chance to offer theirs, too.
  8. Offer verbal cues.
As someone is talking to you, ask simple questions so they know you’re listening and paying attention. Oh, what did you mean by that? What happened first? What happened next? I see. Well, that must have been tough.
  9. Body language is everything.
You’ll be a more successful conversationalist if you look approachable. “Even if you feel serious and or overwhelmed by walking into a room where you don’t know anyone, try to find a smile to put on your face”

Work-life integration or work-life balance?

Work-life integration is “an approach that creates more synergies between all areas that define ‘life’: work, home/family, community, personal well-being, and health.”

Work–life balance is the lack of opposition between work and other life roles. It is the state of equilibrium in which demands of personal life, professional life, and family life are equal. Work–life balance consists of flexible work arrangements that allow employees to carry out other life programs and practices.
